Approaches to Creativity

During this fall semester, I am taking a class called Approaches to Creativity. The class title pretty much says it all; however, as part of my regular assignments, I have to keep a blog where I have to post certain assignments. Some of these are blogs posts and others are photography based projects.

The first assignment due earlier this month was self-portrait. I had to make a list of things I felt represented the different aspects of me from a physical, spiritual, mental, social, and so on. Once I had my list, I had to photograph representations of myself. In some pictures, I make an appearance. In others, the object should be photographed in such a way that it represents me. I struggled, but I ultimately got it done and I found it pretty rewarding.

If all goes well in Approaches to Creativity, I think I may maintain that other blog going forward.

Blooper Reel of Ms. Bette Davis

Wish I could embed this link directly on my blog here, but unfortunately the publisher of the reel on YouTube has disabled embedding. I still want to share it because it’s pretty darn funny. Had no idea old school Hollywood even kept it.

My Gimpy Life

If you enjoyed the Guild and enjoyed the feisty antics of the wheelchair bound Axis of Anarchy member Venom (played by Teal Sherer), you will get a kick out of her new web series My Gimpy Life.

My Gimpy Life is somewhat based on Teal’s own experiences/struggles being a wheelchair bound actress in Hollywood. The first season just ended and it was hilarious. I’m personally looking forward to Season 2. You can watch episodes directly from the My Gimpy Life website or search for the videos on YouTube.

Great post from Jeffrey Way over at Tuts+ about what web design/development is really like and how even the experts feel overwhelmed with the speed of the web’s evolution.

Creative Funk

Frustration

Frustration (Photo credit: music2work2)

Since returning to full-time employment earlier this year, I’ve been in a little bit of a creative funk. Not sure what caused it. Was it the security of a regular paycheck? Was is it the lack of using my web skills in the job?

I’ve been neglecting my professional website for freelancing for a while. Every time I looked at it, I felt restless. I knew I wanted to freshen it up, but I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. Did I just want to change a few things here and there or did I want to wipe the whole thing away and start from scratch? [Read more…]
